How to onboard for coaches & admin

Modified on Wed, 22 Jun, 2022 at 3:51 AM

Running you through some tips to get the most from your account from day 1.

When you set up your account we will run you through what we call "onboarding". Basically, this means we try to help you get your account set up as quickly as possible so you can get to the good stuff and actually use the product!

All elements of the onboarding tasks you complete can be edited in the settings part of your account if you want to.

We run you through the below steps that we feel are vital to the success of your account.

Creating a username

When you sign up we ask you to create a username. Many people ask "why can't I just use my email address as a username?". Well, MVP Analytics is a product that will allow you to have a profile wherever you go (you may move to a new job). Therefore if your work email address becomes inaccessible to you, you are still able to access your account and connect it to your new work email address afterwards.

Please note that because of data security and GDPR once you have left the organisation you will no longer have access to the athletes or the athlete's data you have been working with. You will however have some of the other benefits of a profile.

Validating your account

When you first set up your account we ask you to validate your account in case of typos or wrong email addresses. This is very important for everyone in your organisation so that everyone will receive reminders and communications internally. It will also allow us to keep you in the loop for product updates and maintenance.

The email will look something like the below.

You will then be asked to create a password

Creating a school/club/university/governing body

Creating an account involves 3 parts. Uploading a logo (if you have one), writing a company bio or description and entering further information regarding your organisation (address and so on.)

Why ask for this information?

MVP Analytics is going to have some pretty cool features that include scouting which means that a company account is vital. And by creating an account with all the details you can it will mean that your profile looks as attractive as possible when you are connecting with athletes outside of your organisation.

Uploading a logo is pretty simple and adding in some company information should be too. Just follow the instructions and fill in the short forms. All this information can be edited after onboarding.

Adding athletes

Adding athletes to your account is the most crucial part of the success of your account. Athletes get the unique ability to set up their own personal profiles that will allow them to access their own data and educate themselves on its importance.

During the onboarding process, we have a simple way to get athletes into your system, ready for adding data to and managing on a day-to-day basis. It is as simple as adding their name and email addresses either by manually typing in the details as below or if you have an excel or CSV file then you can upload it here too.

*Please note that athletes have to verify their own accounts. An email will be sent to them when you enter in the details, allowing them to complete their profile with more information will make your analytics even more insightful.

Please refer to our terms and conditions and article for more information on how the organisation > athlete relationship works.

We also have a "nudge" feature, which means you can easily follow up with your athletes if they haven't yet accepted the connection and set up their profile.

It is important for athletes to accept this connection so following up regularly is very strongly recommended!

Organising your athletes into groups

Groups should be used to split your athletes down into manageable chunks for inviting to events and viewing data.

We recommend beginning with large groups such as a whole school year or age group e.g. Year 7 or U18s, you can then select from these to make more precise groups e.g. Year 7 - Cricket, U18 – Defenders.

All coaches can see all groups in the system, however, your administrator can set privileges for which groups and the athletes within those groups they can remove data from.

Adding staff

MVP Analytics is great for a single coach to use, but sometimes you may have multiple people that you would like to be using MVP Analytics. During onboarding, you are given the opportunity to invite some staff members to your account.

This means you can collaborate on various elements of your performance program but also have each staff member managing a team (potentially it might be 1st team and 2nd team).

Each person you add to the account counts as one license once your trial ends. Each license is chargeable and can be managed in your settings in your account. Read more about licenses here

Organising your staff into groups

Organising staff into groups is essentially the same as athlete groups. After staff has been added just create some groups (Cricket, Hockey) then assign the appropriate staff member to that group. More on groups here

Creating your own personal profile

We have built MVP Analytics to be very adaptable and flexible. We have created a hierarchy that means the organisation is the account owner, with staff and athletes sitting within that organisation.

Each staff member (and each athlete) will get a free profile that they can use as they wish.

If you are setting up the organisation, you will be asked to create a personal profile as well and this will count towards 1 x license.

The profile consists of some information including your name, date of birth etc. As well as a profile image and bio.
